Munich is known worldwide as the capital of pretzels, lederhosen, and massive beers. Therefore I'm glad to say I saw all three of those things and much more this weekend. The special reason for our visit was that my host mother's aunt was celebrating her 75th birthday. We ate breakfast together everyday, but the most special meal was Friday night dinner at a nice Italian restaurant with a 4-course meal and a surprise visit from a magician. For our own program, we did 2 days of sight-seeing in the downtown area. Top attractions being the Frauenkirche, Marienplatz, Saint Peter's Church, and the Munich Opera. The last being my highlight of the trip. I consider this my first opera as I was too young to remember my actual first. We saw The Marriage of Figaro from Mozart in the most lavish and grand music hall I've been in. I'm glad to have such a necessary pin on my list of travels and look forward to any future chances to go back.
