Today I got an email from my program letting me know that I have been selected by a family and know where I'll be staying for the next year. I don't want to divulge any personal information but I will describe my family. I will have a family of 4, consisting of a host mother, a host father, and 2 host brothers. They live in a suburb of Cologne, and enjoy hiking, sports, and studious evenings as a family. Both of their sons play basketball at the athletics and sports center just down the road from their house. Interestingly, their oldest son, who is 14, will be doing a semester of exchange here in the US around the same time I'll be gone. I've bought gifts to bring to their house on the first day that symbolize the very distinct culture of Texas. I am very excited for this upcoming year with my Host family!
