Introduction to The Blog

What this blog is for:

In the coming year I will be leaving the country to stay in Germany as a participant in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange. This blog is to keep record of my trip and write down my experiences living with a German family and attending German schools.

History of the Program:

Initiated in 1983, Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) was created to strengthen ties between Germany and the United States through citizen diplomacy. The program was founded in celebration of the 300th year anniversary of the first German immigration to the United States. CBYX is jointly funded by the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag, and in the U.S. is overseen by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Over 24,000 students have prepared themselves for success in an increasingly global world by participating in the CBYX program.

Why I am creating a blog:

While I am staying overseas, I am limited on the amount of time I can communicate back to the U.S. to ensure that I develop the necessary communication skills in German. This blog is for me to let those who are interested know what things I am doing and how life in Germany is for me.
